La Motte is delighted to announce its appointment by the Great Wine Capitals of the World as the South African Winner in three of the 2021 Best of Wine Tourism categories: Wine Tourism ServiceArts and Culture as well as Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices.

“In a year that has been globally challenging for tourism and especially testing for the South African wine industry, it is important to stay true to your values and quality standards”, says La Motte CEO Hein Koegelenberg. “Innovation and cooperation are essential and we are delighted that La Motte’s efforts have been recognised. We hope to serve as inspiration for the sustainability of wine tourism in South Africa.”

After reading countless reviews we headed out to Louisvale Wines, this beautiful estate is located in the heart of Devon Valley, Stellenbosch. The striking building was designed by award-winning architect, Christof Albertyn and represents the fusion of African and European building aesthetics.  I marvel at how the architect incorporated elements of Khoekhoen (who built the first man-made domed structure in the area).

Summer in the winelands are spectacularly seductive surrounded by lush vineyards, picture-perfect scenery as well as world-class wines and great cuisine. The warm hospitality at the tasting room of Wellington Wines in the Bovlei building offers visitors to this quaint Boland town a signature welcome.  Even younger visitors are catered for with a specially adapted tasting.  Bring along your own picnic basket or order a platter from the Bains Café coffee shop.

Just off Voor Paardeberg Road in the distance we found a beautiful white chapel that leads to a picturesque scene: the ever-changing leaves of the vineyards.  The tasting room is cosy with a rustic appearance and classic country charm. Greeted by the sounds of a crackling fire, a glass of wine and inviting laughter, immediately made it feel like home. Last week I had the opportunity to taste award-winning American #FarmToGlass @richlandrum.africa craft rum at the Vista Bar in the @oocapetown . I must admit I was pleasantly surprised to learn that #RichlandRum is America's only single-estate, single-barrel rum from Georgia, with only the purest ingredients. ' The Rum has been tipped to be at the forefront of the craft rum revolution in this country. While Richland rum is ideally enjoyed neat, our balmy climate often calls for an ice cube or two , I must admit that the classic rum cocktail always gets me smiling😊
