Why I Wine

If you’ve read my “about me section”, you now know that I only started experiencing wine at the ripe age of 21-ish and I can think of many reason why I didn’t do so earlier, but that one that totally stands out, would be the language (“the Ra Rah”) that comes with ordering a simple glass of wine.

First they start with Red or White, and then you think you’ve passed that test – think again – you also need to choose between dry, sweet, wooded and unwooded. Of course, that’s not all –  you’re also supposed to smell apples, pears and whatever good or bad odours, reminiscent from your childhood. Having said that, I somehow end up going back to my crutch drink, which at the time was Rose or any sweet wine I could find, it’s easy to pronounce and as far as I can remember, a Rose is a Rose.

So I started drinking Rose, what a freakin joke – while all my friends were drinking ciders, here I was -Miss Uppidy – ordering Rose at every damn place that possibly served it! Next on my list, was to up my game by adding some bubbles.

Whilst in my world I was drinking Champagne, out in the real-world people referred to it as Methode Cap Classique – imagine my surprise when I found out I wasn’t toasting to the same drinks that Bo and Hope toasted to in my childhood! That’s when I realised that drinking wine just seems so complicated, itseems like one needs a degree of some sort to order a simple bottle of wine with confidence!

So to answer your question – no, I’m not a wine expert or winemaker or wine merchant, I’m basically a wine lover with a humble opinion on the wine I love, like and would drink ‘cause I’m in a company

I would love to hear from you, so p;ease feel free to message me about any topic you would like me to cover.. Cheers for now
