The just-released De Wetshof Limestone Hill, one of South Africa's most popular unwooded Chardonnays, emphasises the reputation 2022 is garnering for being a top vintage for white wines in the Cape, especially Chardonnay.

According to Johann de Wet, CEO of De Wetshof Estate in Robertson, the fact that this year's harvest was characterised by cool, mild conditions is well reported. But with the wines now bottled and in the market, the magnificent quality of the season's offering is coming to the fore.

Trade Winds Sauvignon Blanc 2021 triumphed as the best Sauvignon Blanc at the 2022 Trophy Wine Show, winning the Sunday Times Trophy with a top score of 97/100. Trophy Wine Show, South Africa’s premier wine competition, is internationally acclaimed for its meticulous judging and illustrious international and local judging panel, chaired by wine authority Michael Fridjhon. 

 

Caroline’s Red Wine Review 2022, the world-class showcase of the crème-de-la-crème of Cape red wine presented by Cape Town’s legendary Caroline Rillema, takes place in the V&A Waterfront on Thursday, 28 July.

Only the top 90 accolade achieving winemakers are invited to participate in Caroline’s Red Wine Review held annually for almost three decades, with the exception of the past two years due to the Covid pandemic.
