Cape Blend and Cap Classique offer glimpse of exceptional quality

A rare bottling of wines made only from harvests of exceptional quality has been released. This is only the second time that the Suikerboschrand Cape Blend and Anna Christina Cap Classique – both part of the top-tier Sense of Place range by Stellenbosch Hills - have been made available.

Sense of Place is dedicated to the best individual vineyard components at the winemakers’ disposal and is a window on the provenance that flows throughout the Stellenbosch Hills portfolio. As such, quantity is limited by what the vineyard provides; and, the harmony of its growing season.

Stellenbosch winery Kleine Zalze, one of the most commercially successful and award-winning Cape cellars, etched a place in South African wine history by winning the award for Best Producer at the Amorim Cap Classique Challenge which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary as the country's foremost wine competition exclusively committed to honouring Cap Classique wines. In a record line-up of 135 entries, the Kleine Zalze Vintage Brut MCC 2015 achieved the top score, winning the category for Best Brut Cap Classiques as well as the award for Best Producer at this year's competition.

The Cap Classique Producers Association has recently re-positioned its marketing objectives to highlight the importance of time in the making of fine South African bubbly. The change occurs simultaneously to a drive for changes in local legislation governing the production of Cap Classique, and for which the CCPA are lobbying. All very positive indeed.

Foursome adds milestones to winery’s 75th anniversary year

Bring on the sunshine with the latest wines from Stellenbosch Hills. The addition of two new white wines - ambassadors of Harvest 2020 - marks a milestone for the winery celebrating its 75th year.

But its latest list of wines to stock up for the warmer days doesn’t stop here. In fact, the launch of Stellenbosch Hills Chenin Blanc 2020 and Stellenbosch Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2020 brings to four the number of current white wines available. They join the showstopping Sense of Place Anna Christina MCC 2018 and 1707 Reserve White 2019 as the wines to have, right now.
