The launch of the Old Mutual Trophy Spirits Show brings a new and valuable competition to the spirits and liqueurs sector of the South African liquor industry. Open to all producers and importers, the show will score and rank all products across a series of categories, identifying the gold, silver and bronze medallists and awarding a trophy to best-in-class submissions providing they are of gold medal standard.

Tshepo Mohlala is the talented young man behind eponymous African luxury denim brand, Tshepo the JeanMaker. Born in Lydenburg and raised in Tsakane, a small township situated in the east of Johannesburg, he founded his business in late 2015 in a quest to live out his passion for denim, which he says was inspired by his aunt’s classic yet quirky personal style. The stylish denim wear he creates is universal and timeless with original and eccentric nuances.  

Well-known wine brand, Nederburg, recently set out to celebrate South Africans forging their own paths in their own inimitable ways, via an exciting national marketing campaign entitled #TellMyStory. The 2018 Sommeliers Selection listed wines announced

The Sommeliers Selection is the only South African wine competition judged solely by a panel of South Africa’s top sommeliers, in categories fashioned around the perfect varietals for a restaurant wine menu.

This year, more than 300 wines were entered into the contest which was held in Cape Town in mid-June.
