Allée Chicnic at Allée Bleue

Springtime, is picnic season and I think I found the perfect spot. Set in the picturesque Franschoek Valley, the 200ha Estate is ranked among the top three herb growers in the province. Everything is well packaged, from award winning wines, fruits and herbs to the most amazing wedding venue. Honestly speaking, you might just want to marry yourself while you’re there.

My daughter had an amazing time running and playing on the beautifully manicured lawn, which kept her entertained for most of the day -so much so that she was quite hungry after a while. The Kiddies Menu is filled with delicious snacks such as homemade pizza, carrot sticks, cold meats, cheese, Beetroot & sweet potato chips – even a Kit Kat Chocolate Milkshakefor onlyR95.

The Standard Picnic Basket which we enjoyed was such a treat – it’s basically a mix of local and international flavour just waiting to explode in your mouth.

We had everything, including a braised Beef Wrap with Sour Fig Salsa and Wasabi Tzatziki, which paired perfectly with the 2013 L’AmourToudours from the Estates Premier Range.Their Freshly-made mini Bobotie Pie was complimented by the 2015 AlléeBleue StarlettePintoge . The Allée Bleue herb salad, with a Cabernet / Merlot wine reduction, was made from the Estate’s award-winning wines, and finished off with Pecorino Cheese Shavings.

The Vegetarian Picnic Basket

This included a Roasted Zucchini Wrap with Hummus and Wild Rocket, Farm grown micro herb salad with an Allée Bleue Cabernet/Merlot wine reduction and Pecorino Cheese Shavings.

They also offer a Allée Bleue farm style Pie and a Farm Style Cheese Platter, which is out of this world.  This includes a selection of local Cheese, Freshly baked Bread and Fruited Melba

a toast served with home-made Smoked Olive Tapenade, Aniseed Onion Marmalade, Chilli Tomato Chutney and Basil Pesto and so much more.

Their 2016 AlléeBleue Starlette Blanc, which is a dry white made of 62% Sauvignon Blanc and 38% Chenin Blanc pairs well with the Vegetarian Picnic Basket. Itwas also the drink we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon, as we watched the season change.

So why not discover the Allée Magic at Allée Bleue
