Perdeberg Cellar Unveils New Packaging: A Homage to Heritage and a Journey Back to its Root

Drawing inspiration from its heritage and predominant use of dryland-influenced vineyards, wine enthusiasts of Perdeberg Cellar’s trusted classic range are in for a surprise. As of the beginning of September, the range will be on shelves sporting a more elegant look. Maintaining the presence of tradition, the upgraded range of classical wines gives the impression of elegance and quality, yet still at the affordability it has become known for.

Keeping within the look and feel of the contemporary appearance, the changes include a refreshed screwcap colour option as well as an updated label design, which incorporates the cellar’s heritage and creates the impression of minimalistic warmth. An upgrade that perfectly communicates the range’s dryland characteristics, combined with innovative winemaking techniques. The result makes the everyday wine-drinking experience a joyous occasion. Be it with family or friends when enjoying a glass of Perdeberg Cellar you pay tribute to the established cellar’s heritage.

With a wine catering to each palate, the range comprises six approachable and well-known varietals. These include the following:

With its pale green tinge, the Sauvignon Blanc has aromas of gooseberry, asparagus, and nuances of bell pepper and green figs on the nose. On the palate, these flavours carry through to a refreshingly crisp finish.

As South Africa’s official Home of Chenin Blanc™, the Chenin Blanc does not disappoint. A beautiful pale straw colour with aromas of white pear, guava, and kiwi fruit, resulting in a crisp palate with a zesty finish.

With its deep purple-red colour, the full-bodied Merlot delivers aromas of berries, spice, and plum on the nose. This leads to a palate of soft smooth tannins and a velvety mouthfeel for a rich, lingering finish.

South Africa’s proudly produced varietal, the Pinotage with its bright red colour lives up to its name, with a bouquet of dark plum, blackberry, and dark cherries. These allow for elegant tannins, ripe dark fruit, and a hint of vanilla on the palate, followed by a lingering, fruity aftertaste.

The Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of blackcurrants, blueberries, and mocha undertones, with a soft smooth palate and a rich, lingering finish.

The Shiraz is bold and a deep purple colour, completing an already impressive line-up. A fusion of dark plum, blackberry, and black pepper aromas comes through on the nose, with dried spices and cloves to balance these flavours. On the palate, the wine delivers intense fruit and enticing spice characters, complemented by a dash of well-integrated oak, followed by a lingering aftertaste.

Ranging in price between R75 and R80 per bottle, the new-look classic Perdeberg Cellar wines are available directly from the Tasting Room, online at Perdeberg’s Online Wine Shop, or at selected liquor outlets nationwide from early September.
