The Perfect Pair: Blaauwklippen’s Brut Cap Classique and Blush Rosé is a sip of sunset in your glass

In 1977 the first Zinfandel vineyards to be planted in South Africa were established on Blaauwklippen with the first vintage released in 1980. This pioneering spirit led Blaauwklippen to produce world-class Zinfandel for decades, and today they remain one of only three Zinfandel producers in the country.

Apart from their popular and acclaimed red Zinfandel wines, Blaauwklippen in recent years also started to produce a Brut Cap Classique and Blush Rosé from this grape varietal.

With soft tones of pale salmon, both of these wines tick all the balmy summer “boxes”. They are ideal for after-work drinks, or to enjoy around the poolside at lazy lunches with family and friends.

Produced according to the classic bottle-fermentation method from Champagne, Blaauwklippen’s 2020 Brut Cap Classique was aged on lees in the bottle for 24 months before disgorgement. It is a delicate and fresh wine with floral hints and a creamy core. As a “one of a kind” product – the only Cap Classique made 100% from Zinfandel grapes – it is the perfect drink to toast to memorable moments, or to set the tone for a romantic dinner.

Blaauwklippen’s sought-after 2022 Blush Rosé captures all the alluring qualities of Zinfandel and Malbec grapes in a sophisticated light wine.

It offers the crispness of a dry white wine with the fruity richness of a red, and pairs well with a variety of Mediterranean-inspired summer dishes.

“For both of these summer wines, I aimed to express the distinct characteristics of the Zinfandel cultivar and Stellenbosch terroir in a creative way to deliver a fresh and sophisticated taste and drinking experience,” says Narina Cloete, Winemaker at Blaauwklippen.
