Bosman Family Vineyards_Innovative_Inclusive & In the Heart of Wellington

I had the pleasure of visiting the Bosman Family Vineyards earlier this year and  Oh my Gosh what an amazing experience.

The main business comprises “ Kwekerye”, which is the Bosman’s vine nursery or “stokkies” business. This basically  comprises the cultivation of tissue cultures of various wine grape and table grape varieties, the propagation of plants, the establishment of “mother blocks” which are then used to harvest material from which the root stocks and vine cuttings are made grown, grafted and planted to develop into the vines which are sold to wine grape and table grape farmers.

For me this is just next level, as it really shows their commitment to sustainability but also represents different level of thinking.

Bosman Family Vineyards have built up a very sound reputation and  is managed very professionally by Petrus Bosman was nominated as Young Farmer of the Year in the Western Cape in 2013.

I discovered the Bosman label thanks to odd bins. I remember stumbling  upon the 2013 De Bos Sauvignon Blanc and immediately fell in love, wanting to know more I turned to google.  I was pleasantly surprise to discover that The De Bos wines are Fairtrade accredited which results in the funds being utilized for education and social upliftment of the children on the farms. This gives a new meaning to drinking with a purposes.

This warms my heart

Thanks to @Savineshare we got to experience a virtual tasting with some bloggers friends from Jozi

One of my Favorite wines of the day had to be the Nero D’Avola a variety from Sicily which caught me by surprise , very fruity with a great mouth feel.

I also enjoyed the 2016 Skin Contact Pinot Gris, the grapes were harvested by hand in picking crates, cooled overnight and transported to the cellar. The grapes were de-stemmed and stayed on its skins for 5 days before pressing. A light hand in the rest of the process was followed. This wine 100% unoaked.

The 2015 Granache Noir , On the nose you get the fresh berry flavour with hints of spice  &  peppers. This wine delivers beautifully on the palate with a long finish.

This rare limited edition wines are exclusive to Bosman Wine Club members.
