The annual Prowein International Trade Fair for Wine and Spirit is current underway in Düsseldorf, Germany KWV was revealed as one of the World’s Most Admired Brands in the annual The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands survey by Drinks International. Competing with the greatest names in the industry, KWV was ranked 45 out of 50, making it the highest placed brand from South Africa and one of only two South African brands to be featured in this global list.

The words “ My Book Club Reads Wine Labels "  comes to mind when I think of the genius idea behind #MensaWines I must admit, in January this year I really was a super reader by my standards. In the 1st month alone a read 2 books was a lot.  That  number quickly dwindle down to a few chapters a months and here I find myself in August with only 2 ½ books to my name.  I take pleasure in reading a hard copy as I relish in that new book smell unfortunately one of the disadvantages of this  that you have to remember to take the book along with you wherever you go with that being said, the book either gets lost or damaged.

The 2018 Sommeliers Selection listed wines announced

The Sommeliers Selection is the only South African wine competition judged solely by a panel of South Africa’s top sommeliers, in categories fashioned around the perfect varietals for a restaurant wine menu.

This year, more than 300 wines were entered into the contest which was held in Cape Town in mid-June.

NEDERBURG’S THE WOOD DIARIES: A ‘SMOKY’ WINTER EXPERIENCE

A few weeks ago I was part of a small group that experienced an intimate late afternoon event at Nederburg in Paarl to learning about the intricacies and skill associated with not only the ageing of wine in oak, but also the blending of a number of wines matured using different types of oak and ageing techniques, into one beautifully balanced blend.  

When I got the invitation from Dine4Six, I must say I was a bit apprehensive going to dinner with 6 strangers. I was also hoping that it was not some kind of speed dating as for one, I’m married and two, I had no car keys to throw in the bowl. Well, Dine4Six is none of the above - in fact its way cooler than that!This social dining app is so next level and literally takes away all the “What If” stress when you’re meeting new people.
