Harvest-time is Mosbolletjie time and this year, La Motte makes even more of this iconic treat. Expect all that you love about these seasonal brioche-type buns, but now, other than being made with must (fermenting grape juice), the innovative baking team in the La Motte Bakery also uses a sweet sourdough culture! The result is a richer taste, a more generous size and in general, just more Mosbolletjie!

Spirit of free creativity shines in latest offering from Franschhoek winery

The boutique Franschhoek winery Paserene’s first release of Dark – a full-bodied and broody 2018 Syrah in its Elements range – is a fine ambassador of the winemaker’s pursuit for appealing and authentic expression. Showing notes of spicy treacle, cherries, and antique leather, this Syrah was crafted from a combination of grapes grown in clay soils in Tulbagh, and sand in Franschhoek. These two renowned wine regions, together with vineyards in Elgin, are the palette from which third-generation winemaker and Paserene co-owner Martin Smith draws for his creations.

No longer a pipe dream, Franschhoek’s restaurant recovery initiative will officially launch on 15 November, and what better way than with the ‘I Love My Hoek’ campaign.

Take your love for Franschhoek one step further by earning as you spend. Simply spend R400 or more at one of the participating businesses using the SnapScan app.  In return you’ll receive Hoekcoin to the value of R200, which will be saved in your SnapScan Wallet.
