Rocking Back-To-Back Double Gold medals

#LoveLARGE this Valentine’s Day and enjoy FAT bastard Rosé with audaciously delicious Vanilla French Toast!

FAT bastard wines are ‘tickled pink’ that their well-loved FAT bastard Rosé was honoured with a Double Gold medal, for the second year in a row, at the 2020 Rosé Rocks competition. Rosé Rocks is South Africa’s first dedicated rosé wine competition which seeks to recognise excellence in rosé winemaking and promote the SA Rosé category.

Just off Voor Paardeberg Road in the distance we found a beautiful white chapel that leads to a picturesque scene: the ever-changing leaves of the vineyards.  The tasting room is cosy with a rustic appearance and classic country charm. Greeted by the sounds of a crackling fire, a glass of wine and inviting laughter, immediately made it feel like home. Nothing excites me more than Chardonnay In my wine glass, the versatility excites me especially when the wine is showcases the winemakers flair   Chardonnay is a relatively neutral grape with a flexible character, it derives the bulk of its flavours from terroir, where it reflects the growing conditions with terrific fidelity, and barrelling, where it’s intrinsic flavour needs to be coaxed out. Creatively it’s a blank canvass for winemakers and that’s an exciting space to exhibit the craft of winemaking.
